Diagram

Full-ice diagram of 1-on-1 Shooting Warm-up. Lines sit in the bottom-left and top-right corners. The left player skates up the middle, takes a pass from the right corner, carries in and shoots on the right goalie. Then the right player skates out, takes a pass from the left corner, and shoots on the left goalie. Shooters join the line in the corner they shot from.

Coaching points

How it runs

  1. Split the group into two lines in opposite corners, with pucks at each line. A goalie in each net.
  2. The front of one line skates hard out of the corner. The front of the far line hits them with a hard pass.
  3. The skater carries in and shoots on the far goalie, then joins the line in that corner.
  4. The passer goes next: skate out and take a pass from the other corner, then go in and shoot.
  5. Progression (2-on-1): send three players toward centre. The leader is a D with a head start; the F's go when the D reaches the blue line. The D takes the pass and drops it to an F, then it's a 2-on-1 the other way.
