Coaching points
- D: mirror the carrier, keep your stick on the ice, and angle them to the boards.
- Close the gap with your feet, not a reach. Take away the middle.
- F: protect the puck through the cones and keep your feet moving.
- 2v1: both attackers drive the net. Carrier reads the D: pass, shoot or delay on the wall.
- Quick reps: one rush, then the next group.
How it runs
- Set three cones: one below the faceoff dot for the D, and two by the F line. F's line up at the top of the circle with pucks; D's line up at the dot.
- The F carries a loop around the first cone while the D pivots around the cone by the dot, mirroring the F.
- The F rounds the second cone and cuts toward the net along the wall. The D angles them toward the boards.
- A second F drives the net. It's 2v1: the carrier can pass, shoot or delay on the wall.
- Play it out, then everyone returns to their line and the next group goes.
